Starting July 1, 2026, Cologne Cathedral will charge tourists €12 (approx. $14) for entry to the main nave. Admission remains free for worshippers coming to pray, light candles, or attend services. Tourists must purchase tickets at the Western Main Entrance, while worshippers must enter via the Northern Entrance to access the designated prayer area. Entry is free for children, and fees are waived or discounted on special dates: January 6 (Twelfth Night), May 1 (Labor Day), and October 3 (German Unity Day).
Tower climb tickets cost €8 for adults and €4 for children (6-17 years). Family tickets (2 adults + up to 3 children) are available for €20.
Tickets are purchased on-site at the cathedral. No advance booking is required. Tower tickets are sold at the south tower entrance, and treasury tickets at the main entrance.
Yes! A combination ticket for both the tower climb and treasury costs €14 (saving €2 compared to buying separately). This is great value if you want to see everything.
The tower climb involves 533 steps with no elevator. It's not recommended for people with mobility issues, heart conditions, or claustrophobia. Children must be accompanied by adults.
