Markt der Engel 2026 dates and opening hours
The Angel market opens the same day as the cathedral market and shares its one closure day, Sunday 22 November, a public day of remembrance in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Where is the Angel Christmas market?
On Neumarkt, the big square at the western end of the Schildergasse shopping street. From the cathedral it is about a 15-minute walk: down Hohe Straße, then right along Schildergasse. Neumarkt is also one of the city's main tram stops.
Because it sits in the shopping district, it is the easiest market to combine with Christmas shopping.
What makes it different
Costumed performers walk through the market: angels, a Winter Queen with a live owl, and lit-up fantasy figures on stilts. Being in the shopping district rather than on the cathedral square, it also makes an easy stop between shops.
